About Us
Our History
The Lea Tam Acupuncture Center was established in Boston in 1982 by husband and wife Lea Tam and Tom Tam, both Chinese immigrants who arrived in the United States to start a new life. Since 2013, the clinic has been managed by siblings Bell Tam and Yvonne Tam, both who are licensed acupuncturists. Lea and Tom Tam are retired from acupuncture.
Bell and Yvonne are second generation acupuncturists who have served as apprentices in the clinic learning from both Tom and Lea from a very young age. Both Bell and Yvonne hold a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture.
Tom recently retired in 2013 after practicing acupuncture for 30 years to pursue teaching and writing about his healing expertise and experience
Today, our office is still located in Boston’s Chinatown and is one of the longest standing acupuncture clinics in Massachusetts. We also have offices in Quincy MA and Haverhill MA.

Tom Tam
Acupuncturist
Tom has practiced acupuncture in the Boston area for over 30 years making him one of the earliest practitioners in Boston. Within his profound career, Tom has devoted his time and practice in helping others. His intuition, knowledge, and experience in the healing arts led to the development of the Tom Tam Healing System and Tong Ren Healing Therapy. Tom has retired from acupuncture in 2013 to further his teachings and developments of Tong Ren Healing.

Lea Tam
Acupuncturist
Lea is a graduate of the Guangzhou College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She emigrated to Boston in the early ’80s and began her practice, becoming one of the first acupuncturists in the Chinatown area. She paved the way for the popularization of acupuncture in Boston as she and her husband’s practice grew. Today, Lea is retired from acupuncture but her office and practice still remains a household name.

Bell Tam
Acupuncturist
Bell has his license as an acupuncturist but is also a wealth of knowledge in the field of tui na massage. He has had more than two decades of experience performing tui na, helping countless people achieve better health. Not only is Bell a healer and practitioner, but he is also a teacher and a mentor. He holds education as one of the foundations of the work he does, helping his patients have a better understanding of their own bodies, about the science behind illness, and about how to take the skills he possesses home with them so they can upkeep their own wellness, empowering those around him.

Yvonne Tam
Acupuncturist
Since childhood, Yvonne has observed all the healing that surrounded her as she spent summers and afterschool hours at her parents’ acupuncture clinic. Her interest was sparked as she saw success after success – of people who entered in pain and in fear but then left in disbelief as their ailments were alleviated. Yvonne has her Masters in Acupuncture and has more than 15 years of experience with tui na massage. She has taught Tong Ren Healing and the Tom Tam Healing System in the United States but also in France, Spain and England.

Kristina Sclafani
Acupuncturist
Kristina has always had a strong passion for Chinese medicine and homeopathic healing. She learned through her family to address illnesses with both eastern and western treatments and healing practices. Medicine was always administered with complementary and alternative methods to restore the body to health. Kristina’s passion for pursuing a career in acupuncture and Chinese medicine stems from her personal experience with the benefits of these practices.

Jess Butler
Acupuncturist
Jess’ practice is rooted in empowering patients to recognize their own bodies’ ability to heal. She came to acupuncture first as a patient after suffering for two decades with debilitating migraines. Disheartened by the limitations of western medicine, Jess finally found relief and renewed vitality through acupuncture treatments. Jess believes acupuncture is the foundation of holistic health care because the treatments address the physical, emotional, and spiritual distress that pain causes our bodies.

Hieu Nguyen
Acupuncturist
Hieu received his Master’s of Acupuncture from MCPHS. Since 2019, Hieu has been studying under Tom Tam, Yvonne Tam and Bell Tam. Hieu is a gifted healer with skills in treatment under the Tam Healing Philosophy using a combination of Tui Na Therapy and Acupuncture.
